Arvind is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia, and a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Toronto. He has served as President and Vice-Chancellor of UBC, and as the CEO and Scientific Director of Mitacs Inc. Arvind was instrumental in creating the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) and the Banff International Research Station in Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS). He is a Senior Fellow of the Asia–Pacific Institute, and a Member of the Government of Canada’s Science, Technology and Innovation Council (STIC). He serves on the Boards of the India-Canada Research Centre of Excellence (IC-IMPACTS), BIRS, the Fields Institute, the Canadian Statistical Sciences Institute, and SimTrec.
AJ is the Executive Director of Palette Inc. and a Fellow at the Brookfield Institute for Innovation + Entrepreneurship. AJ spent six years within the provincial government serving as a Senior Policy Advisor in the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Ministry of Research and Innovation and the Ministry of Community and Social Services. She is the cofounder of SoJo, a startup social enterprise dedicated to working with educators and nonprofits to provide curriculum and tools to train aspiring social entrepreneurs in the startup process. AJ has a Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of British Columbia and a Masters in Political Science from the University of Waterloo.
Sean is an experienced storyteller who lives to connect the ideas of brilliant thinkers to government, media, and the wider public. Sean has worked in the public and think-tank sectors delivering strategic communications, policy research and issues management support to policymakers, experts and influencers on a variety of issues and files, including cybersecurity, refugee protection, conflict management and international trade. Sean holds a Masters degree from the University of Ottawa’s Graduate School of Public & International Affairs as well as an Honors BA from Western University in International Relations.
