The takeaway
Top companies like Jobber look for great B2B talent in SalesCamp to align with unique work cultures. But how do they get past stacks of resumes to find the best candidates? The answer is to team up with an upskilling program like SalesCamp by Palette Skills. The advantage? Employers get to meet the next generation of B2B talent in person.
The Jobber story
Jobber started small in Edmonton in 2011. Since their first customer, looking for a solution for his home-based business, Jobber now gives more than 250,000 people access to a seamless business operations platform. The team at Jobber is motivated by a desire to help small business owners work more efficiently. The company helps entrepreneurs build their unique businesses while supporting their families and communities.
What sets Jobber apart is its culture of collaboration and transparency. The company is recognized by Great Place to Work and on the Globe and Mail’s list of Canada’s Top Growing Companies. It has also earned a spot on Deloitte Canada’s Technology Fast 50.
We sat down with Quianna Ferreira, a talent attraction specialist at Jobber. We asked her how SalesCamp has helped solve their talent acquisition challenge.
The challenge: matching great talent to a great work culture
Traditional resumes tell employers some things, but they don’t always show motivation and mindset.
“A huge partof our culture here at Jobber is about feedback,” explains Ferreira. “We believe that folks thrive with feedback. We want to share our experience and our career journeys in tech sales, and support those wanting a space within tech sales as well.”
Our culture is different than in a traditional sales team, so that openness to feedback really resonates with our environment that we’re striving for here at a Jobber.”
The solution: SalesCamp
Ferreira says there are important reasons why SalesCamp has been a talent solution for Jobber.
“SalesCamp gives the recruitment team at Jobber a chance to see what motivates candidates in person. We get to meet folks at that early stage of building their career that we may not necessarily get to be in front of in a more traditional interview sense.”
There’s another benefit too, she says. SalesCamp’s activities and events help employers focus on communicating what they’re looking for in candidates.
“I would say the activities and different programs that I’ve been a part of that have been really valuable are things like the Palette Skills showcase. These kinds of events really help us continue to sharpen our feedback and coaching skills.”
The SalesCamp difference
SalesCamp is a 6-week hands-on, live and online upskilling program. It’s designed to give participants the practical skills they need to thrive in B2B sales. They also prepare participant’s mindsets for future career success.
But for Ferreira, what makes SalesCamp stand out is the real-world skills training.
“Salescamp provides that really practical tech sales training where graduates are equipped with hands-on experience in sales with things like prospecting, cold outreach, lead qualification, and so on.
SalesCamp graduates get that tailored training that really lends well to our SDR roles. They come with that knowledge and it’s really great.”
Advice for employers
Ferreira encourages employers to get on board with SalesCamp. For her this upskilling program has opened up a new pipeline of untapped talent. Without SalesCamp, she and the team at Jobber might not have found such great candidates. She has some wise advice for organizations looking for new talent:
“Focus on that untapped potential and try to see where, given the right environment, folks can really thrive and succeed. Be ready to look for people from a variety of backgrounds, such as from retail or hospitality. Through networking events and showcases at SalesCamp, we really are able to do that, and take a deep dive and see raw talent you don’t necessarily get to see, and I love that.”
